How about a Passion flower, it's semi-evergreen depending how bad the winter is.

Or a solanum (potato vine)? The ordinary blue one is reasonably hardy, fast growing, and flowers for ages.

I would have honeysuckle, Scented clematis or thunbergia.

Good luck in what you decide will look nice on your trellis.

If you want an evergreen climber which is very dense how about a solanum which has blue or white flowers and the butterflies love, I had a blue (purple/blue) one which was very quick growing the only thing is I think the berries may be poisonous but the birds love them. Just a thought for when the sweet peas finish.

I'd recommend the Clematis - Armandii Snowdrift - it's a vigorous grower, evergreen with large white flowers ... ours is in flower at the moment. It would probably appreciate a sheltered spot in your climate, but your trellis looks quite sheltered within your fencing panels.

I agree Mona. I bought one fairly late last year so it is still fairly small. No flowers yet (I am in North Yorkshire not South France) but it stayed green all winter and is sprouting shoots like mad already.

    Hi Geckoman
I think you're doing the right thing growing some highly scented sweetpeas you will get a beautiful smell everytime you sit out on your deck.

Just remember to keep twisting and tying the shoots onto the trellis work because once the sweetpeas are happy they grow like crazy! ;) Hel.xxx.
