    Hi guys,

I have a small (1 year old) loquat tree, which I have kept in the house pretty much the whole time (I planted the seed in May last year but it took about 2-3 months to sprout).

I kept it inside because I live in the North of England so as far as I know they're rather vulnerable to cold when they are really young.

Anyway, I was hoping to get a bit of an advice as to how to go forward now. My plan is to keep it inside this year and the following winter and then move it permanently outside next summer.

I've enclosed a picture of it next to an average-sized mug to scale so you can get an idea of how big it is.

I'd put it outside this summer and maybe move it undercover for next winter.
The idea is to kind of get it used to outdoor conditions slowly.

I'd go for frost free, not too warm next winter if that is possible.

It looks a good strong plant.:blue thumb:

thanks. So you think it's ready to be outside already next winter? If so I'd put it against the wall in the garden and wrap the pot with bubble wrap and surround it with bricks, so that should keep it frost free, I thought it was a little early to put it outside in the winter :-)

Well really I was thinking of a green house or a frost free porch if you have it.
Ultimately it depends on what the weather is like next winter.

Hi thanks again. Uhm, frost free porch no I'm afraid, that's not an option unfortunately, however I do have a small greenhouse in the garden, so yes technically I could do that, my only worry is that the humidity inside it would be quite high in the winter if it's always close.

Well the main thing is frost free.
By that I mean a bit on the cool side but no frost.

So if you have an unheated room with lots of light that might do.
