My first ever chook was a liberated ex-batt; she remained "oven ready" for months! Finally got her looking cat walk fantastic when, her poor little heart gave out on her :cry3: My total consolation was that the final 9 months of her life was one of love and luxury ... her gift to me was ... my love of chooks :dbgrtmb:

Moult is a fascination time: some chooks lose just a few feathers, some lose an enormous amount and some, you simply don't even notice!

One thing I learned was, while they go through moult, feed them some scrambled eggs because they need that bit extra protein to get them through it. Have you heard that, loli?

Poultry spice is a great "all round" conditioner; the scrambled eggs gives them an extra protein boost for their feather re-growth. Seems it takes quite a bit out of them in all that regrowing.

            Bless Lol,
she looks like she's recovering from Girlflu. You know - the PROPER flu (as opposed to **n flu). Of course, this is the time when those far away relatives turn up for a suprise visit.:sofa::yikes::gaah: Just looked in my fridge chiller box and found a packet of this that she might like? http://www.myprotein.com/uk/products/egg_yolk_powder
            xx Aunty Jenny
ps is she well enough to cope with a visit from a chook I took a piccie of this morning? She's a little sweetie honest - not catty or bitchy or anything like that.

I can send you details of my hairdresser if you wish. She can work miracles for me when I have a bad moult day.

Here's my Brown Sussex, currently sporting her finest 'autumn moult' outfit, a nice little off the shoulder number with matching tail. :chicken:
