Hi all, our Kiwi flowered for the first time last year but did not set fruit, that's when I discovered it was female... I'm finding it difficult to find a male Kiwi pollinator online and was wondering if anyone in the Essex / South East area might have one I could take a cutting from?

    Welcome to Gardeners Corner :sign0016:

I had a self pollinating one, think the variety was Hayward, only ever set 2 tiny fruits

Hayward is female and needs a pollinator (which may explain the low yield, a far wandering bee may have found a male). The one my wife bought was just labeled 'Kiwi' but I think it may be Hayward as it's habit is as described and Hayward seems to be the most grown female in the UK. 'Jenny' seems to be the only 'classic' self pollinator that grows well in these climes.

I wonder if Jenny self polinates if it would work as a pollinator as well?

Hmmm, I hadn't considered that, I guess it must produce pollen so it's possible.
