Thought I’d put this recipe on for mincemeat slices, got this easy recipe out of a mag years ago, quicker to make than mince pies if you’re in a bit of a rush, my kids have never liked mince pies but they love these especially warm with cream.
    4oz marg
    6oz SR flour
    2oz granulated sugar
    6-8oz mincemeat
    icing sugar to dredge
Pre-heat oven to gas 4 180c/350f. Grease a 7×9 inch shallow tin (I usually line with greaseproof paper too).
Rub the marge into flour, stir in sugar, then mix in mincemeat, spread mixture in tin and bake for 20-30 min until brown, cut into fingers when cool and dredge with icing sugar, yummy, store in airtight tin if you get the chance.

Just put a batch of these in the oven, Simbad. They certainly smell ok. I went for the low cal option - 4oz of butter. That is slimming, right? :D The mixture looked a little dry but a liberal slug of marsala soon solved that one. It's funny ... no one wants to go into the kitchen when it needs clearing up, but suddenly I have rather a lot of people hovering around ...

Claralou your version sounds nice too.

Just had a taste with a coffee very good Sinbad I too said this would be nice with dates and apples.

                Many thanks for the recipe.

As we don't eat Christmas cake or pudding I make mincemeat ice cream or pinwheels. Did my pinwheels two days ago but actually I made wagon wheels and they are too big so shall go back to pinwheels.

I am lazy at times .. so it's store-bought puff pastry spread with melted butter and Robertson's Rum & Raisin Mincement rolled up, sliced, put on a tray with melted butter on top then cinnamon sugar and baked till golden.
