I agree, even fairly small plants don't like being moved.

Thanks, very helpful! I'll give the "sheltered spot and garage if things turn nasty" a shot. Fingers crossed I'll get some flowers next year :)

It's difficult to get rid of, I know that! Chopped the muddy white horrors right down to the ground and the blasted things are back up looking stronger than ever  Having seen @pete's photo, though, I'm going to have to have another go at growing from seed. What a stunning colour!

        Update :)

All three plants that stayed outdoors are alive and growing new leaves. The one I left as a houseplant has grown wonky and straggly and goes through leaves at an alarming rate. I was checking my Christmas-tree-Easter-tree-midsummer cactus for spent flowers and what did I see...

No it's not! It's a lovely pure white compared to the horrible, apparently indestructible shrub in my garden! I've razed that to the ground in the forlorn hope of killing it off, and am nurturing half-a -dozen seedlings of what will be blue ones  :fingers crossed: Well done @Selleri !

:roflol: It looked more like an unsuccessful cross between white and blue. We haven't had a dust-storm or tempest for....ohhhh....must be 5 days now!

Angel's trumpet var. Alba Serenissima Superba

OK, blue would have been fine too, can't wait to see if the outdoor ones are the same.
