The English language has some excellent words, some of which far to brilliant for their obscurity. Some are fairly modern, only making it into dictionaries fairly recently, some very old and archaic.

    What's your favourite underused words?

Here's a couple of mine. Extra brownie points for getting them into a sentence. Here goes:

Rotund. As in, I am not overweight, I am just rotund in my nature.

Ambivalent. Rather impossibly, I am ambivalent about eating sea bogies. I recognise their nutritional worth, but they are a bit gross.

Bodacious. Woos awesome picture is the result of a most bodacious venture.

What a bodacious topic but I'm abivalent about whether I can fit the word rotund into the same sentence. :snorky:

It's an excellent idea but I'm using obscure words all day long :dunno:. At least, that's what people tell me, whereas I think of them as being common and natural. As @"M" said about me not so long ago "don't play Scrabble with Shiney!" :lunapic 130165696578242 5:

I used the words "Flibberty Gibbett" in the GC office the other day and Armandii flounced me with his codpiece :yikes:

            Pixilated

I was quite agitated when I discovered that most gardeners are pixilated and that I had assimilated without learning Latin. A natural...

I was a bit confusticated by pixilated as I'm more used to being pixelated.

I'm noiselessly going to bed, I fear I've vouicriferously, quietly, soundlessly, peacefully, created a ripple in the water, I don't like ripples, unless they're raspberry:spinning:

Tagging me into this thread, is the equivalent of challenging me to a game of Scrabble. I will not be inveigled :snooty:

Such is the theme of this discussion, it is open to taradiddles and humbuggery, not least from those with an element of the braggadocio within them
