Sorry if this is a silly question, but can a mouse be bought which doesn't have to be attached to the computer by a wire? If so, can such a mouse be used with a laptop so that it over-rides the built in mouse pad?

Yes you can get wireless mice that don't physically have to be attached to the laptop and I'm not sure if it would override the touch pad as such but the mouse would work fine

Thanks KL. Any idea what I would have to look for when searching for one of these? Is it possibly called an optical mouse?
