20200403_144724.jpg 20200403_141342.jpg I couldn't believe it when I saw this little guy under a garden slab. Then I found out he is called a Common Lizard and I feel sad for him because he deserves a name more like the Majestic Super Amazing Lizard.

Does anyone else have any in their garden and have any ideas on how to encourage them to stay? I read putting large rocks near where you found them helps as they like to sunbathe (could they get any cuter?!). X

@Lizzie Rose ,..a very attractive Lizard and as you say should be called Golden Lizard or something more to how it appears.

We have 'Common Lizards' in Ireland though mostly of a darker colour and live in tall grassy regions and places with lots of cover,..i have attached some info on 'Common Lizard' and there is a lot to read,..hope it helps you with yours,..you didn't include your location,..the UK i am presuming.

@Lizzie Rose, it is a common newt not a lizard and will be much happier under the slab. They definitely will not be out in the sun as it is an amphibian and it's skin cannot take much sunlight before drying up and dying. it is great to have them around as they eat many insect pests.

Now I'm sad and also have told so many people about my lizard encounter that turns out to just be a newt haha! Darn google failed me. I had no idea newts lived under patios. Do you know what? I am still in love with my common newt and still think he should have a more majestic name haha. He's a cutie. Thank you for clearing that up

This maybe of interest, these were taken last thursday, a common lizard adult and young, although this is a greenish common lizard which can be confused wtith the rarer, very green, Sand lizard.
