Excellent! Must look later to see how my babies I got from Spain are doing ... forgot about them with our drizzly weather (they are outside).

Some more Amaryllis have bloomed,..the one posted so far is Amaryllis 'Royal Red' and is a very old plant,..it produced a Pup and the bloom from this is Blood Red.

Hard to capture its deep colour.

Spent most of the day in the garden seeing it was warm,..very warm,..rounded up any self seeded Digitalis 'Foxgloves' and moved them to a permanent spot,..then removed all the cuttings i took from other Digitalis and sowed them along with the self seeders 20 in all,..hopefully i will see some of the prizewinner ones i had appear last year,..these grew to 100 cm = 8 Ft 4 ins.

                    Some visitors ,..Goldfinches.

Placed the Amaryllis on high while i worked around the garden.

Also out of reach to others,.. seeing most areas are protected just now with Chicken Wire and cages so there are only the pathways for four legged creatures to prowl in.

Love that with Foxy Molly between the pots. The Amaryllis look wonderful with the sun shining through the petals. Shame you can't keep them outside all Summer ... well, maybe you can!

                        Hi @glengarry23

                        Hi @Victoria

They're looking great Glengarry. I've just got the two left to flower now out of nine.

Vicky, you can get hardy Hippeastrum now. Look for bulbs that are called Hippeastrum "Sonatini " , they're hardy and come in about four or five different colours. I would imagine you'd do well with them over in Portugal.

Morning @KFF from a wet Algarve.

It is very difficult to get specific bulbs here. I have a red Amaryllis which is barely alive due to neglect and I should have had it outside where it will be planted. All these Amaryllidaceae species live happily outdoor here as we don't have frost. This past winter we got down to was 6c for one freak day! I have had this Belladonna Lily blooming every year for 13 years now in a dry rockery ...

                          Belladona Sep 08.jpg

I just got three rootings already sprouting from Spain of Clivia Crytanthiflora, a hybrid, which I am growing outside and will plant in the ground in the Autumn. These flowers stay like little bell clusters.

Phillip, they are currently on the ledge and will be planted in the little border below.

@Victoria , I like the look of that Clivia Crytanthiflora. I've got a catalogue with loads of different Clivias in it I'll have a look for that one when I'm back home ( I'm at my moms today).
I am trying a lot more exotics this year I'll put a list up on the " what are you doing in the garden today " thread later.

Hi KFF,..9 Amaryllis you lucky devil,..i keep mine indoors for most of the year so i can only manage 4 in the house when they are in full bloom,..are yours indoors or in a greenhouse?,..i note you still have 2 left to bloom,..i just have the one left to bloom and its in bud just now,..mine are all blooming at the same time for the first time in years and have bloomed over the years even at Christmas.

                                Hi Victoria,

Delighted to read that your Clivia Crytanthiflora have sprouted,..they will put on a good show when in bloom against the white wall.

Your Belladonna Lily has rewarded you very well in all of its 13 years,..has it produced new bulbs?.

Ah yes time to plant that red Amaryllis outdoors now that we are mentioning it,..the change will perk it up and perhaps produce wee bulbs :ideaIPB:
