I'm always losing things to Phiilp , I tend to hang things I may need from nearby branches....much to hubs distress! :heehee: One Autumn, a few years back, revealed the secateurs in a tree once it had shed it's leaves!!

Stunning photos Philip. I love Hydrangeas. We went to The Azores, Faial Island, and it is called the Blue Island because the lanes are lined with Hydrangeas.

They are all so beautiful. I saw a problem in the week about Morocco and it showed rose farms in the dessert! Women collect the petals first thing in the morning. I never knew they liked such conditions.

Fragrant Roses always take me back to the summers in my childhood garden. My older sister and I use to gather the petals and mix them with water and then we'd pour the concoction in a bottle and give the bottle to Mum who always ' seemed' so thrilled at this gift of 'homemade perfume'.
It was probably a smelly slimy bottle of yuk by the next day!! :roflol:

Rosa Korresia is just stunning ... and that it is highly scented is a bonus.

Roses are planted at the entrance to orchards here, often around the little brick pump houses, so if a virus is about, the roses give warning. So, they must like hot temperatures. Also, I recently found this article ...

Best vines and climbing plants for hot dry gardens.

Your Mum was very nice to seem pleased at the effort you and your sister went to make homemade perfume instead of putting you both off at the end result :wub2:its nice looking back at childhood ideas,..when my Dad was working in the National Botanic Gardens i would drop in after school and give him a hand,..one job i liked was when he filled a wheel barrow with weeds i was very happy to take the barrow to the weed dumping area,..also at the looks i would get from visitors who raised an eyebrow,.. smiling at a child working there,..made me feel important,..i was about 8 years old then,..its where i was bitten by the garden bug :)

One cutting i have is making me think its the wrong plant for my garden,..because of its eventual size and spread,..so easy to grow and blooms in abundance.

Another bush has me pondering,..its going to be a great eyecatcher,..but BIG.

Buddleja White,..just coming into bloom,..this was a wee cutting from last year.

This nicely coloured Laurel i will keep,..it started as a volunteer plant approx the size of a cigarette packed.

Sedum 'Dragons Blood',..i tend to grow Sedum in containers along with roses,..just to keep the sun from drying out the soil.

Chinese Lantern 'Physalis',..because its so invasive i keep it in a container.
