There are two wonderful garden centre I visit an awful lot.
One is a little tiny family run nursery in a small village not too far away from me called Barborough on the edge of Derbyshire.

As with most places you have to hunt for your plants but you can get loads of good plants at a great price too.Aplines from 75p and grasses from £1 which is such a great price I think and they are not tiny at this price.
There is even a Saturday Carboot on the site throughout the summer season too.

The other is further a field but well worth the trip in Glapwell over at Nottinghamshire wonderful good solid plants many at £3.75 and they are so very well looked after and the staff are very friendly too. We have been going there for years and it has grown from a tiny plot to a huge place .....still no cafe but then you can always have a nice cuppa when you get home! :D
