For years I've been a huge fan of "Cara" (still am) but this year I've grown "Charlotte" as a 2nd early...... WOW, just had some of the first pickings, absolutely gorgeous! Fresh out of the garden and into the pan, more tonight!

I thought cara was maincrop, good for roasting, and always associated charlotte with those plastic washed spuds in supermarkets.
Kind of a salad potato, that shouldn't perhaps be ready yet, being a second early?

Hi Pete, yes Cara is a maincrop, growing some for xmas dinner and I agree charlotte taste crap from the supermarket but fresh out of the garden? Sublime.
