Black Orchid, may I offer my heartfelt thanks and appreciation for you sharing these photos. I feel that I have to, as it were, come clean. To me the rose is the queen of flowers. The ancient Egyptians cultivated roses. Today. I have horticultural friends who admit that they do not grow roses. Some say. They are horrible plants/shrubs. Most of the time taking up space, with their thorny bare stems.

Then once the rose produces it's flowers. The rose comes into it's own. Seeing the blooms and taking in the fragrance. Somehow, the rose comes alive and in some mystical way, casts a spell over folk. Suddenly. The rose in it's way. Reaches out to you. Suddenly it's not just a flower. NO. For many it awakens the innermost person. Forgive me for being a somewhat romantic but. I recognised many aspects of the flower, that reminded me so much of my late wife. The form. The colouration. The texture and of course the fragrance.

Truly. The rose really is the queen of plants and flowers.

Thank you for your response. I wish I could afford all roses I like. I am retired. So I try to get not expensive plants.
