    Hi,

I have inherited a bush from my late Mum. The first year I had this bush, it seemed to grow well in its existing pot, but last year - after repotting - it seemed almost dead. This year, moved to a sunnier spot, it seems to be doing well again but ...

... I want to do the best I can for this bush as it is not only beautiful but has sentimental value, so a good start would be to identify it.

I would be extremely grateful if anyone could tell me what this is:

Hello Jillian and welcome to GC.

I'm not 100% sure but I think it may be a VERY OLD Forysthia or Winter Jasmine ... in saying that yours seems to have too many petals.

I'm sure someone will come along here with more knowledge than me nn this shrub and advise you correctly.

In the meantime, enjoy the forum.

Hi and welcome from me also Jillian :)
I'm not really a shrub person but my first thought was Forsythia too.
    Regards, Beki x

I dont think its forsythia, the branches look a bit gnarled, they tend to be a bit straighter. The one that Pete has found has very similar flowers to yours. 02

Pretty certain it's not winter jasmine, especially if that's a recent picture. Mine has long finished flowering and looks nothing like. Also it spreads like crazy.
