I saw a TV play recently (freeview channel I think)about a retired couple who moved back to their seedy childhood seaside hometown. The wife meets an old flame (a noisy show-off) in the pub, the husband becomes suspicious and at one point serves up a doctored shellfish meal to them. There is a subplot of an elderly lady who daily occupies a seaside bench which the wife eventually sets fire to (too complicated to explain why!!)
The cast was a distinguished one and I keep thinking that Janet Suzman, Michael Gambon and Albert Finney were the leads but can't trace anything that looks remotely like the play by searching under any of their names.
    Help, anyone? [IMG]

Sounds like you're getting it confused with an aria from Turandot! :D
It's a bad time for me to get it on my mind; I'm just about to set off for a few days in Prague..which I've been told is the world's most beautiful city...where I'll have images of some drizzly, dreary seaside town in my thoughts :(

Lyn, well done. How ever did you find it?

Jack will be pleased, hope it didn't spoil his holiday.

    cheers

Yes, that's the one! I'd like to know how you found it Lyn. It came to me that Richard Johnson played the ageing Romeo and not Albert Finney, but the play is not listed on the Imdb website under his name or, indeed, Janet Suzman's.
Prague was very worth visiting but I was shocked that so many of the lovely old buildings were daubed with graffiti. I suppose every country must have its mindless morons intent on destroying the beauties of their heritage... in Great Britain they are known as The Government!!
