A friend gave me a red robin plant about 2years ago it was in a big pot
I kept it in the container it was growing very well but yesterday I noticed it had brown/black leaf spot well I presume it is but it's also got lots of new shoots .

I was wondering after I got rid of leaf spot maybe I should replant it i at the back of the garden or shall I repot it into a big container and do I need to wet the roots for 24hours or what? Advice appreciated

What is the size of the plant now and what size to you want it to grow to ?

If you plant it in open ground it will grow to over 4 mtrs high in a couple of years !

If you keep it in a pot and lightly prune it can be kept at a much more managable size.

If you move it, yes a good watering before always good and also keep well watered but not waterlogged after the move.

In all cases a good feed with Fish, Blood and Bone or similar about now will help.

Ah, its just a wee plant then..

Generaly they say just repot into the next larger size, but would put it in to something twice the diameter of the clay coloured pot, or larger, as they are such vigorous plants.

The black pot is very small and you will probalby find the roots really tightly bound around its base, if so , gentley tease some of them out to help them find their way into the new compost.

F,B&B is a balanced fertilizer, but Bonemeal is a slow one, so better if you can use some of the former or something similar like Growmore as the plant really needs something now to help it with its new spring growth.

Coffee and eggshells ? doubt either will do much for it now, as they contain little nutrients compared to a general fertilizer.
