After 2 months with no saturday off , I`ve decided to finally take a weekend off
and have a walk to my local market , of course there is always the flower guy
with some nice deal for me.

Hey mister tropical man , got this 2 ugly plants left , both for a 5 !!!!!
and sing was going ....don`t be shy it`s only a 5 :snork:.

Could anyone say no to this?

even gave me a cactus for 50p.

I`ve actually asked how was he managing to get those plants at those prices?
he was telling that , many buyer go to Holland for the auction and after come back to England he get all the left over .....I was really hard to resist , has he had lots of cactus (£10 for a box of 24) and lots of bromeliads in flower for £1 .

Jenny , it`s the inner beauty that count  , we don`t judge a plant just by the way it look ;)

As a side line Sal, I'm experimenting with feeding Nepenthes on dried blood, not sure if it will work, but cant see why not.
They never catch enough flies on their own, and especially at this time of the year.

Pete what about , snail , catarpiller and so on? I know we shouldn`t feed them , but unfortunatly my kitchen is not the tropical forest they need.

I`ve recently noticed that sarracenia are actually catching different insect , by species ....I`ve got 6 sarracenia and noticed that one love just fly , one moschitos and the other seam full of snail shells ....so I rekon the Nepenthes must love certain food.

I'm going on the assumption that as long as its organic nitrogen it should be OK.

I'm not really into gathering slugs and caterpillars.

Anyway I have one very small plant that only has tiny pitchers at the moment, and getting anything of any size into them would be impossible.

Pete , the picture doesn`t really show the size of the dew , but I can actually put a mouse as long as a bird .....but of course I`m not going to do it....
I`ve been reading around that many peoples use Beta Fist Pellets used to feed betta fish , one a week will do the trick up to summer .

Amazing what bargains you can get Sal isn't it? I picked up a large Lepismium bolivianum for £5 from a local florist at the beginning of the year no idea where the lady got them from but I couldn't resist at that price and I haven't been able to find any plants of the same size since and cuttings go on eBay for more :rolleyespink:
