I've ordered a greenhouse which will be arriving in two weeks time - very exciting [IMG] . I'd welcome experienced greenhouse gardeners views on what to grow. I've lots of ideas but not much experience except for growing tomatoes which I can buy very cheaply in the village. I'd prefer to try something more challenging (I'm not into veggies but adore flowers).
I know that its the wrong time of year to be growing seeds but I need to plan for next year. Plenty of armchair gardening and viewing of the Sky gardening channel coming up. :D

You could always line it with polythene bubble, install a fan heater and thermostat, and use it to overwinter exotic flowers like bougainvilleas, strelitzias, hibiscus, abutillons, lemons etc etc. They don't emerge until May, so it won't be a lot of use for seedlings in the spring, so order another one while you can :D

PS. You really need a kitchen extractor fan on a timer to control the humidity as well, but I didn't want to put you off. [IMG]

I don't think I want to go in for exotics - too expensive and needy. Apart from two tree ferns, bought on impulse, the plants in my garden are native. I'm happy to try seedlings of difficult to grow plants that are native to the UK.
I'm going to see an exotic garden on Sunday. I work for a charity and organise the Open Garden Scheme in Suffolk. Sunday's garden is small but full of Mediterranean and African plants. Superb.

Ah but you see, us chaps go for arm candy :D
In reality, there isn't much truly native to this country. If you reject imports from the Romans forward, that only leaves us with whatever they made Wode from and straw for the roof. :D
I would love to see photos of Sundays garden. Any chance?

As you say different tastes, Ladybird, but that will be there all year even in January.
Must admit I would plant a few flowering half hardies around in summer to brighten it up. [IMG]

That sounds really lovely Marley. Is it in a pot or the ground? My greenhouse still hasn't arrived - next week I hope.

[IMG] I have it in a pot Petal, although it stays in the same place now as it has grown up & along the side now. I re-pot peridically, but top dress each year after flowering & feed during summer ready for winter & flowerng time again. :D :D
