New House & New Garden but not a gardener. Help!

    Please can you help me identify these plants and also any tips on how to cut them back as they are a bit big.

    Hi Leon These are the two that I have:)

    No 1 looks like "Fatsia Japonica2
    Cut just abouve a branch junction or leaf junction where a bud is present so it can continue growing from that point without any die back

    NO 4 looks like some kind of Phormium(New Zealand Flax)Pruning you can using a sharp knife to cut back the older and scorched leaves to base level, leaving the newer shoots

    Yes, I would agree with Woo. And no 3 looks like a Hosta - beloved of slugs.

    1 and 2, Fatshedera, 3, Trachycarpus, 4, Hosta, 5, Phormium, 6, Phormium flower, need a better pic of the tree.
