Got my new plant labels this evening with QR codes. Got the blank label holders from the Essentials Co and then got a local printing firm to make up stick on labels with QR codes.
Getting right posh now. :) :)

Solved for you Val. :) You can read all information about the plant by sticking your mobile phone up to the code.

              Hi Val,

I e-mail my friendly local printing firm with
              a) Latin name
              b) English name
              c) web site address for QR code

they have a programme that automatically converts the web address into QR code; they then print the labels out on sticky, weatherproof material and then I peel off the backing paper and press them onto the blank label holders.

The funny thing is that I haven't downloaded a QR app onto my phone yet. (Probably get my daughter to do that.) :) :)

AND how do you go about getting a website address for a QR code that gives full details of the plant you are dealing with?

For, say, Fatsia Japonica, google the name and pick out a reputable site for info on the plant. e.g. https://www.rhs.org.uk/plants/details?plantid=788

e-mail that link to the printing firm that's making the labels and bob's your uncle, they have a programme for making a QR code from that link and putting it on the label. Labels have to be a fully weatherproof, very sticky material for putting onto the holders.

I hadn't heard of a QR code until Kindred posted about them, now I'm seeing them in quite a few places including on my daughters Canadian driving school car. My phone is ancient so have no chance of reading the codes.

I find if I stare at them long enough and let my eyes go out of focus I can connect straight to the website :)
