Got a new one of these, but can't get my Chromebook to recognise the card  Searched for an app under that name but can't find one (not that i'd know what to do with an app, never downloaded one in my life)

The lead that it came with just starts charging the camera rather than uploading pics.

Can't run the cd that came with it as no cd drive on a Chromebook.

    Have I been had?

    TIA :wallbanging:

Ziggie , I have a Nikon Coolpix , great little camera  I installed the software that came on CD and it works great , just plug the camera in and it downloads and new photos. Now for devices without a CD drive ,they must have thought of that one . As jiffy said anything on the Nikon site ?

    Hi Zigs this might help:smile:

if you use a DSLR or compact camera, you can remove the SD card and plug it into the slot on the Chromebook and drag the files either to Drive or the local storage. ;)

Shop won't take it back, saying its a computer thing and sent me across to the computer shop, he wouldn't even look at it, saying he doesn't know how Chromebook works.

Found I can save the pics using google+ but the best size I can copy from there is this

That's a blow Zigs! Is it worth emailing both the camera and Chromebook manufacturers to see if they can help. :)

That is the full manual, you just connect your USB lead to the camera
You should have a disc with software on it that you set up in the comp, that then leads you
    through the process
If you have not got a disc or your comp does not have a CD reader, then just connect the USB lead from the camera Then turn the camera on
Go to "My Computer" and you will find a new drive "drive D" or "Nikon Coolpix"
Just drag any files in drive D to a folder you have set up in C " OR MY PICS"

I'm sitting in a canalboat in Scotland, with wifi throughout the boat (and caravan before that) using a mifi with a Three sim in, with an external aerial taped on the roof (table level is towpath level) using a tablet with either OTG cable connected to sd card/usb stick, or using one one of these I bought to avoid dangling stuff plus share media about the boat
