Just wishing you gardeners a happy summer.:sunny:

I am trying to visit the forum but I have a 4 year old and a 5 year old... one female and one male.

Over the years they have thwarted my efforts to garden with aplomb, ripping leaves and flowers as toddlers or trying to eat things. At least they are old enough to not go on destructive rampages these days! Just!

Roll on September and those happy school days for this gardener! :WINK1:

Apparently my uncle, when a very young child, had a distressing habit of eating slugs. :yummy: Perhaps you could train your kids to do their bit for the garden by following his example. :heehee:

I work at a garden that I landscaped from scratch (including seeding the lawn)

this garden is/was pristine, as I tended to it as though it were my own ... I work there once a week for 4-5hrs ... have been working there for nearly 3 years

the beds are 'cottage style' and full ... this has cost a lot of money to get it as it is

they have 3 small children aged 4,6 and 9 (all boys)

their dad has now bought football posts and these are in the garden ... the children play football all day long and smash flowers left right and centre

there is a huge open field across the house where other children play football

I don't say anything as their dad plays football with them and sees the plants being damaged ... and I don't want to loose this job

OH well, they are very wealthy, so suppose we will replace whats damaged every spring

Wow! My kids know there is BIG trouble if they bash a single leaf! :WINK1: But they have done a lot of the gardening with me and they like watering.

It must be really hard to watch them damage stuff though :(
