A Family in Kirkcaldy has been supervised for the last two years and its food monitored, in order to maximise the chances for them to loose weight (parents and young children grossly overweight).
Apparently that failed and 4 of the children are now put up for adoption.

A bit extreme but maybe the only chance to save their health...

My Grandson went for his 30 month Checkup yesterday.
The Health Visitor expressed surprise that he eats a range of Veg and is keen to eat a variety of Fruit.

He seems to be an oddity??

He is, however, the correct height and weight for his age and is very active.

    Strange eh??:loll::loll::loll:

    It makes you wonder.

Simple instruction, stop over feeding your kids or we'll take them away from you.

That would have got the message across for me. Oh how I wish we hadn't opted out of natural selection.

It'll be the end of the human race, instead of evolution, we'll end up devolving.

It doesn't really seem that harsh to me

Under Feed your kids = Kids go into care

so why not the other way around?

They could set up a transfer system, where their kids get shipped out to the Horn of Africa & they take in 4 kids from there, fatten them up & then move onto another 4 and so on.

Well, the kids would have 4 beds and it would stop the build up of problems so yes.

Morlock or Eloi ? Not much to look forward to either way.

Could we profit from this. Enroll obese people into a magical mystery tour guaranteed diet program.

They pay us an exorbitant amount of money without knowing they are going on an exchange programme to a famine area ?

it's sad ... the children are being punished for faults by the parents (must be very traumatic for the children to be removed from their parents, and I very much doubt that all the children will be with the same foster parents, so they too are split up)

If the family were supervised for 2 years, why were they not forced to go to gym or forced to do an active sport in combination with a decent diet?

I go to gym 5 times a week (do 4 cardio machines and some light weights) ... I have seen very obese people joing gym, and 5-6 months later, they are well fit and have lost several stone

by going to gym/doing an active sport even if it is walking, cycling etc, makes (most people) to become aware of nutrition ....

diets don't work on their own in my opinion .... you need to get rid of the poisons in your system, and the best way to do that is to sweat them out

Putting the kids up for adoption is extreme. In fact I'd say it is outrageous.

How can you say to a kid, "you're mam is no longer your mam, we're going to choose you a new one".

Foster care, maybe. In fostering, nobody tries to pretend that the foster carers are the real parents, and the kids can (hopefully) be brought back to health and then return home and urge their mam to sort herself out. But forced adoption, I didn't even know they could legally do that, and certainly they shouldn't be able to. What precedent does that set? If that's acceptable, what else is?
