Its a local village show tomorrow, and as usual I will be doing my Jack of all trades master of none routine. I like to enter as many of the flower classes as I can. These are my two Fuchsias, Shelford and Waveny Sunrise

    Dahlia, Sir Alf Ramsey.

    Begonia, Sceptre

    Begonia Rex, Contessa de Rosa.

Another foliage Begonia. No name because I grew the original from a mixed packet of seed. This was the only one worth keeping and I have kept it going by taking cuttings.

The Chrysanths are very late this year and I only had six blooms to choose from. These are the three I have decided upon. BillyBell (white) Bronze Matlock and Cornetto (yellow)

And finally a humble Pelargonium, Alice Greenfield.

Thanks everyone for the best wishes. I have been down this evening and staged some of my exhibits, the rest I will do in the morning. I am usually happy in how I do at this show, but I never expect to be able to beat some of the people who specialise in just one type of plant.

Many years ago when I nervously entered my first show an old gardener said to me, "Its the people who lose that makes a show like this". That's a piece of advise that has always stuck in my mind.

They look excellent and Mrs Shiney congratulates you on such good specimens. :blue thumb:

She enters lots of different classes and got four first, four seconds and eight thirds this year. She doesn't do anything special with the plants but just gives them lots of love - which is pretty obvious you do as well. :)

Well I think that I should say first of all that the number of entry's was disappointingly well down on previous years. However I am not going to complain about my own efforts which resulted in five firsts and one second. The one I am most pleased about is my Dahlia as it is my first time of growing them. One of my other red cards was for a single reflexed Chrysanthemum, this was a bit of a hollow victory as mine was the only entry.
