I just found a bag of Turbo onion sets , bought about 12 months ago . Stored in a cool dark garage , no signs of sprouting . Are these OK to use this year , or are they destined for the big green bin ?

    TIA

Should be ok as they're still dormant but there might be an increased risk of bolting :)

        Think i'd dump them.
Better than spending time and effort growing something that might go tits up.

its not like they are expensive.:)

Think you are right Pete :blue thumb: For £1.50 from Wilkos it's not worth the risk of unforeseen problems .
I have a bag of red onion sets I want to try anyway....

If they do go to seed you'll get some lovely allium flowers to give to the Mrs or use as pom poms at Wigan warriors matches :snorky:

Eat them young as spring onions before they even think about bolting.

Now that is a great idea @Scrungee :dbgrtmb: I can plant lots in the small container , and harvest them as the bulb approaches 1"Ø . I love spring onions .

That's where I've bought mine from, £1.50 for 500g of Sturon, approx. 150 sets per net . After Googling 'starting onions sets in modules' I'm going to start some in modules in polytunnels this month and see how they compare against ones planted in March directly into open ground, hoping that'll stop the mice and blackbirds wrecking them.
