What's left of our stored onions from last year have reached their end - any pros or cons to putting the best part of half a bag of mushy/sprouting onions on our compost heap? Wasn't sure about diseases?

I normally put them in the garden refuse bin.
But mine are still OK, hoping for another month or so.

Is that because you don't think it's a good idea to put them on the compy Pete?

I was hoping ours would last longer tbh, but we ran out of truly dark places to put them which didn't help!

Its not dark places you need its cool.
Mine are in an old fridge in the garage at the moment.

I';d prefer not to compost them, mainly because they start to grow.

I agree. In the past, I've kept them hung in the loft in an old pair of the wifes tights, looked hideous :heehee: Lasted for ages.
