Look what arrived today, ( ok, not big, nor clever, nor a massive treat, but hey I'm excited!! )

Can't wait to plant them and grow them on. They'll have to go somewhere safe as I have a nearly 4 year old and a 7 month old, but I've been wanting these for ages!!! Should look ace amongst my boos, rheum, nanas and the likes!

I'm not sure I've heard of Side A Tomatoes. Are they a new cultivar?

Ricinus impala is a different strain from the usual communis!

When they produce seed, I'll gladly give you some, and anyone else who wants any too.

Al , I suggest you to start some purple ricvinus as well , red carmensita is one of the most effective , along with the new zealand blue giant .....
don`t start them too early , last year due of the rain lost few ....
                But a really great plant.

Cheers sal, I'll look out for those.

I've been researching ricinus and their toxicity and they are deffo staying at the back of my border. Even I struggled to get there last summer when everything was in full growth so I should think they'll be pretty safe there. I'll also plant one or 2 next to my gunnera which, frankly, last year grew to the size of a peanut! I think planting some ricinus in between my boos will look good, as well as amongst my cardoons. Height, height, I want height!!!!

It also states to start the seeds in march/ April to be planted out in may/ June. Is that about right or should I start them in may?

On the packet it states sow as early as feb and plant out as late as sept! Surely, feb sowing is far too early here?

Considering how bad was last summer they really start to grow at the end of july .....
such of an easy plant but great effect .
wait for the end of February , as they are growing really fast indoor .
