This is Toby, an eight-year-old rescue cat and the latest member of our family.

All we need now is for Lily to accept him and stop hissing if he gets too close.

Give them a bunch of cuddles and kisses. Pretty sure they will become friends over time (and some snacks).

Lovely to meet Toby (ex Cheeky). :cat-kittyandsmiley: He looks nice and calm. I hope Lily gets to like him. It gets tiresome after nearly eight years of Munch continuously hissing at and attacking Van! :frown:

Someone knows when he is on to a good thing.

I often wonder what kind of a home they came from when they discover and settle in to our pampering ways.

I'd rather not think about it too much... Only makes me gloomy.
Our three kittens were found at a highway gas station rummaging through trash and hissing at humans with their mothers presumably dead.

Now they have a shiny fur, a place in the sun above the heating and lots of green to hunt in.

I guess I do in the case of Hoover Van Dyson (Van). in May 2014 he appeared here out of the orange orchards which come right up to our property . He was small, thin and hungry. I fed him outside. Long story short, two months later we adopted him after the Vet put him on antibiotics. He has two places on his left front leg where fur won't grow. He is petrified of people and rushes inside and hides under the bed till they are gone. He is not afraid of the farmer on his tractor. He adores both of us. When an unknown voice is heard in the orchard he runs and hides as he does when we have visitors. So then I think ... "What happened to him? Did he run away from somewhere? Was he dumped out of a car?" Whatever, he will always be our Baby Boy (at +/- 9/10 years old and 7 kilos) and pampered and loved. :cat-kittyandsmiley:

Toby lived with an old lady who suffered from dementia. He became homeless when she was permanently taken into care. I think he was loved and is loved once again.

 That is good to know that there was no previous trauma.:cat-kittyandsmiley:
