Edit: For new members reading this for the first time. I lived on the Isle of Man between 1992 and 2016, having moved there from Essex.

T'other half and I were out today so thought you might like to see these.

The first shots are at Niarbyl (pro. Nee ar bull) Semi-detached cottages, that's all that's there apart from the sea and just a few feet from the sea wall.

The others are taken at Glen Maye.

Just two or three people Jenny. It is peaceful there and very wild (weather wise) during the winter months. :)

Thanks Joolz. The ferns run riot on the island like weeds, which is why there's none in my garden.

What a nice day out Sheal!! I wish I could get hubby to go do things more. There's probably really scenic places around here close but I can't shift him to do it without major effort.

Absolutely stunning and quite breathtaking Sheal, thank you so much for sharing your day out.

May I ask what the orange flowers are in front of the cottages? I know I should know what they are! And I love the way it appears the roof is held on by the posts. We would live in those cottages in a moment ... that is, both of them made into one.

I'd just like to point out it wasn't a day out, just a couple of hours, but we enjoyed it just the same, thank you. :)

Victoria..........The flowers are Montbretia or Crocosmia as they're called now I believe, they also have become like weeds here.

The roof is held on by the posts, these buildings are probably a minimum of 200 years old. Glad you like them. :)

They look like Montbretia to me, which I believe is Crocosmia but from what I can gather, Crocosmia is called Montbretia when its not the massive kind:)

Sheal, whilst living in the UK we lived in properties that were between 200-400 years old. Our property here is classified as 'casa antiga' which means an old house, age unknown. Because of that, our rates are the amazing sum of €8 (that's 8 Euros) per year!

Montbretia / Crocosmia is wild here also.
