Does anyone in the UK have any good recommendations for heaters and types of outside heaters?

I know there are gas, electric, fuel, halogen, infrared, etc. All with different price ranges and costs to run.

I've just bought a new house (finally with a garden!). I've never been into gardening but I'm obviously keen to enjoy the outside as much as I can. That includes even in the evenings or days where it's not quite as warm.

In your views, what are the best heaters? I've read that Infrared are good and a bit cheaper to run, would you agree?

    Thanks everyone,
    Felicity.

Dont they call bonfires, "Fire Pits" or "barbeques" these days.

I was under the impression outdoor heating was considered environmentally unfriendly these days.
I do remember the short craze of those umbrella shaped gas burners but they all seemed to disappear rapidly, I can only think it was a problem of running costs.

I guess there may well be more modern alternatives but I still think they must cost a lot to run.

That, and the pressures from the Environmental Groups as it was thought to be an unnecessary burning of fossil fuels, so it became a bit pc not to use one.:dunno::doh:

They're all in the gardens and outside terraces of our local pubs!

Given the state of the hospitality business at the moment; you could pick one or more up cheap off your local.

The pubs round here are doing quite well. They all serve food, have large outside spaces and have partially covered them and heat them.

I read this article which comes up with some recommendations earlier today. Since it's from the Grauniad, woolly jumpers are its no. 1 solution, but it does also tell you which kind of heaters work best, and why.

I've got one of these, and you can cook on it, plus take it camping, to the beach, etc.

And the ashes are good for roasting chestnuts and, when cool, spreading as potash.

But makes a bit of a mess of your patio paving slabs/decking.

Hope you erected Hedgehog proof fencing around that bonfire during construction prior to torching it.

@Scrungee I watched the video and went to their website however they do not indicate the price range for these. Are they expensive? (I noted that the closest dealer to me would be in Utah, USA. so I would have to factor that in on top of the retail price)

                            thank you
