My main project for this year has been the construction of an outside loo and small utility area. There are several reason for wanting this facility, but the two main reasons are that eventually I would like to open the garden up as part of the NGS and the second reason is that I want to build a pizza/bread oven with dedicated BBQ area, and once constructed I then want to start to do far more outside entertianing with friends and relatives. The aim is to have a fun beer/food club and take it from there. The bread/pizza oven will be a seperate thread, so back to the loo!

This wasn't quite as straight forward to build as I had hoped, but I guess that is only to be expected. The first hicup was that I had wanted to use my old digger to dig the footings, but two existing power cables and underground soil pipes meant a hand dig. This would have been fine, had it not been for all the concrete that I found. I also had to alter the electric cables inside the garage in order to lower the armoured cables outside. I also had to build a further wall to hide the footings from the garage that I had exposed.

The fun begins, first with the neighbours daughter helping out as usual.

We have been putting up with this mess for approx the last 4yrs, and I hadn't realised until tonight just how bad things had been in the garden. I guess that is one of the joys of an extensive restoration project.

Mind you it did look like this when I first started in 2008!

Note the draw bridge that leads to our door. This was in use for 4yrs, whilst I tried to work out what to do with the area. This wasn't very straight forward as there are several levels, a gas service box with stop cock, and air bricks on the wall.

Sadly we are having computer troubles and current access to photos is pretty limited, so for now I will have to jump towards the finished item and try to show build progress later.

    The building measures approx 3,400mm x 2,000mm

The inside is a bit of a problem to get photos of, but you can get the idea.

The sink and tap cost £5.00 from the local amenity dump. They have a recycle shop there.

The basin and taps were new and cost a hefty .99p from Ebay.

The loo was £20.00 on Ebay, but was sadly not as described!

Jobs left to do are to get a hot water heater and possbly paint the inside. I'm not that worried about that though, as it just means more work for me to do.
The frame construction was 100mm x 75mm rough sawn larch and where possible I used recycled materials including the doors and insulation.

I expect that I have left many details out, and will add the main construction photos etc when I can get to them.
