Making space in my shed for my tender plants for winter protection.

I have several Canna's in large pots.

I normally leave the growth/leaves on the plant over winter and cut back approx. March.

Should I cut them back to the surface now or leave them as I've done previously.

    thanks

If the shed is unheated, I'd leave the foliage, as long as it's dry. That's all the protection that mine get and they're left in the ground.

I only cut back after they have been under cover for a while, it gives the pot time to dry out a bit.
I then cut down the biggest stems mainly for tidying up reasons.

I'll dig up the two that are in the ground and leave them in the garage to dry and cut the dead leaves off in Feb, same with the ones in pots. If they need dividing I will do that at the end of Feb /early March and repot.
