I just thought I'd share a random thought on something It amuses me when people pretend to be other people. I'm not talking about impressions, I mean when people genuinely believe they have fooled people with their efforts to put on a different persona or accent. For me, the most amusing bit, is their choice of language. They never quite get it right. Years ago, when I worked down in Hampshire, there was a young lady colleague who loved to mock my north east accent. She thought she nailed it down precisely, and would do a smug face as she said 'See ya lay TAH' at the end of the end of the work day, quite convinced that she'd done a cracking job of North Yorkshire/Durham fusion (although she thought I was Geordie). Then there's a mate of mine, Leo, a Taiwanese chap who used to frequent a rock bar with us. There was a long running tradition in there that towards the end of the night, the band would pretend to finish and pack up, everyone would bellow at the top of their voices 'More!', and then the band would come back, always with the same song (if they'd done their homework) and everyone would sing along the one word chorus which was a naughty word aimed to jokingly insult the band. One time we got a band that wasn't familiar with this ritual, and they didn't do it. There was much confusion in the pub, and then my mate turned to me and said "They didn't even do 'ambags' yet". All that time he'd joined in the chorus, his voice lost among all the others, nobody had ever realised that in his attempt to be like everyone else, he was shouting 'ambags' while everyone else was shouting a very different word
Britain's got talent......just about sums it up for me....hilarious!! It's full of dimwits who actually believe they've nailed it! hahaha
