Pesky Squirrels

    ... have been digging up my spring flowering bulbs. I'm not sure if they have eaten the bulbs or are just having a root around, they have bitten off lots of emerging shoots.

    This is the first year I've tried planting bulbs in containers, and I think I've lost a good few quids worth. I suppose I should have covered them with wire netting. I've wrapped plastic bird netting around but maybe it's too late.

    Yes they are naughty little critters,I definatley need the mesh over my containers....

          Damned things plague me here! In the first week after I moved they ripped all my Lobelia laxiflora out of the pots. Nothing else that week, just those. Their litany of similar vandalism is endless since then.

            Never had a problem with them digging up bulbs, but had lots of problems with my nuts and damage to trees, through out the day i would count 6 squirrels and they was eating lots of nuts, so some that to go, Squirrel pie was back on the menu, what was 6 squirrels turned out to be 42 so it saved me lots of money on meat of the pies

                Hmm, flying squirrels.

                There's always some hippy do gooder thats got to moan about things like this isn't there.

                Now I don't eat land animals, but even I can see that its far better to eat an introduced free range animal than to rear battery fed animals:doh:

                    4 legs, eyes, ears and a tail looks like most land animals.

                    If I was going to eat land animals, it would be squirrels. Think about what they eat, nuts & berries. Gotta be a healthy option.
