Its all going tits up then.

No, we shouldn't be joking about a serious problem. We had similar problems in the 1960's when we used to do enlargements with recycled dunlop tyres.

Kept getting sued by the Pirelli Calender makers.

Well, inserting a more serious tone to this(!) it's like the man said on the news - if you bought a toaster and it proved to be faulty, who would you expect to remedy the situation? The man you bought it from. Who did these unfortunate women buy their implants from? The surgeon.

On another aspect, there are many people had metal on metal hip replacements which are proving to be poorly designed and causing considerable health problems for the patients. Who are they expecting to remedy their situation? The surgeons.

None of those surgeons are having the temerity to argue that they didn't know there was a problem (which they didn't) nor to hide behind the fact that the MRHA or FDA approved them (which they did). They put them in, they are sorting them out.

                What's the diff?

It really ticks me off that the taxpayer is left to pick up the bills all the time for so many things we have had no say in or would want..!!

It's a tricky one though...It's tax payers money that is supposed to stop these things from happening, but in this case the regulatory bodies have failed, so is it right for a private company to pick up the bill

According to Womens' Hour, the French implants which are causing the problems were partly filled with stuff which was intended for mattresses! (Hope it wasn't memory foam - or is that spelt 'mammary' :heehee: - they might take a while to spring back into shape.) Apparently some women went for this brand because it was cheap. You wonder what sort of person goes and has expensive and potentially dangerous surgery (all surgery carries a risk, after all) and then says 'I'll just have the economy boobs, please'. On the other hand, I don't much like the moralising tone which is creeping into the media debates. None of us is as nature intended, thank God. Even puritans have probably washed and trimmed their toenails recently. At least, one hopes. So all we are really arguing over is the degree of artifice which is acceptable.

I think the private clinics should foot the bill. They're not short of money. There's always another TOWIE girl who needs a bit of work. Did anyone catch the episode where Chloe considers having bottom implants? Too, too gross for words.

Haha no frills boob job :D

If Harley medical group had goverment permission to fit them surely It's the goverment that should pay for it...if you impose rules and regulations on a company and charge them tax surely if something goes wrong and the company has behaved according to regulation It's the goverments problem. Can't have it both ways.

Well, it hasn't gone unnoticed that one of the major purveyors of the operation has said that if it has to pay for all the remedial operations for it's past clients then it will go bust. Which is a way of saying they'll jump before they get pushed......and dissolve the company before liability hits them. I thought such medical operations were supposed to be medically insured anyway? I have every sympathy with the women who, for what ever reason, had the operation. The marketing side of these organisations made it look very attractive and made it a "must have operation" to a vulnerable sections of the Female gender.

But knowing the privatised market they will avoid paying for the operation themselves and give the responsibility to the NHS and us. The irony of this is that we will probably end up paying the very same Surgeons. who performed implant operations, to remove them due to the large number of women requiring the implant removal and the small number of qualified Surgeons in this field.:stirpot::D
