What was the cause? I was so happy that my Pitaya cactus finally got 8 blossoms! But suddenly they became soft (hanging down) and then even blackening and now dead.

Apparently you have to be "up in the night" to see the pitaya flowers because they last so little time.
A similar flower which lasts longer is the Epiphyllum Oxypetalum.

I think you've hit the nail on the head there Mira.

those flowers have "been and gone" as we say.

They flowered one night and dead by morning.

Oh? I never knew that. That means, there's still a chance of getting fruits - I will check them out right tomorrow morning! Thanks for that useful information!

PS: anyone being able to locate natural hazelnuts? Need these seeds because I want to grow them. Thanks.
I offer seeds of tropical plants in return. :-)
