Is a cell its self made up of cells? Are its constituent parts such as the nucleus made up of cells, which are themselves made up of cells also?

Mitochondria were once free cells, weren't they?

Interesting. I'm not in a position to answer as I don't really know much about Mitochondria, though I suppose what I really meant was not whether cells contain other cells in the way that a room contains a number of objects, but whether if you cut into a cell or looked at it through a microscope, you would find it is actually composed of many cells its self, in the way that parts of a plant r body are. But I believe this only applies to living organisms, and as a cell is not an animal or plant it does not apply to it. It does beg the question though of what the inside of a slice of a cell would look like and what it is made, or other plant parts such as xylem and phloem tissue.

No cells are the basic functional parts of a plant, they don't contain other cells.
