    Hi,
Can anyone advise the nature of this cutting please?
It grew directly off the stem of the shrub in the other
picture and grew higher than the shrub itself.
However it bears no resemblance to the main shrub.
Would be grateful for any advice please. IMG_5763.JPG IMG_5765.JPG
    Thanks in advance.

It looks as if it is a shoot that has reverted from the variegated form in the lower photograph. Removal is a good idea as the reverted shoot will tend to be more vigorous and come to dominate if left.

Thank you very much for your most helpful reply. Being only a casual gardener this is something I wasn't aware of, but I'm glad I've done the right thing in removing it.
      Much appreciated.
