I have stachys common name Lambs ear dotted about the garden, the grandchildren love it and usually pick a few of the soft furry leaves to take home.

Hi @Gizmo I have used this company before 'justseed' normally on ebay but for some reason they only list them on their website:

          Stachys Lanata Fuzzy Wuzzy

          They are £2.40 Incl postage

I don't know if it's allowed but I have taken seeds from plants in parks, I can't see any harm in it.

Collect in the autumn after flowering. You need to sow in a pot and leave it outside so it germinates in the spring.

I'm not completely sure, but I think you're allowed to take seed, just not to pick the flowers or take any other part(s) of the plant(s). That certainly was 'unofficial policy' from what I remember from volunteering at my local country park a couple of decades ago! ;)

Hehe, confusing isn't it @Gizmo, I didn't get that either. :) I think with parks they simply don't want their displays ruined, if everyone just took a few flowers that appealed to them there soon wouldn't be any left for the community to enjoy. They are typically more relaxed about people taking a few seeds. Rules are usually stricter with regard to taking wildflowers or their seed because by doing that you could be reducing a rare native plant's chances of propagating itself.

Wait till the flowers have finished and take the seed pods.
