Hi all, I'm new here and in need of some urgent help identfing this plant.
They are growing in my friend's and neighbors gardens.
We would be very gratfull if anyone could help identfiey them as they are having problems with his housing association officer who is claiming that they are cannabis plants, which from looking online do not look like any cannabis plants I can find, they have little to no smell with non of the sharp zigzag shaped leffy edges of cannabis, or even look like any hemp plant, but they do look a little like the "curl dock leaf" but taller and thinner leafed, also, "Enchanter's nightshade" looks close...
But still this housing officer is very adamant they are cannabis plants.
So if anyone can help identfe them, or no any way of finding out what they are, we will be very gratfull. upload_2021-5-29_10-25-51.png

Welcome to the forum @David_eric57 . It doesn't look anything like cannabis. Looks like Evening primrose.

Thank you John, they are even claiming its cannabis from the same photos. Hoping they will flower soon, as they do look a lot like Evening primrose.

The housing association officer wants to stick to worrying about housing people and stop trying to be Alan Titchmarsh.
That is definitely not cannabis, not sure what he's smoking but it's not doing his brain any good.

Just a guess, but I think willow herb or Inpatients, the river side type.

I was going to guess that it is one of the willowherb varieties as well. It will be a bit easier to identify once it has flowered.

            Leaf veins not quite right.

@David_eric57 Have a look at Rosebay Willowherb

Thank you all for confirming what I thirst thought.
So I went around and took some close-ups and it's very clearly not even close to cannabis.
Also, I have heard a playback of the housing officer phone call "she is demanding that my neighbor is wrong and they are clearly illegal cannabis plants which means he could be in a lot of trouble" When sadly my neighbor is very unwell after having a tumor removed and only just lost his mother to the covid pandemic.

By September it will be about 7 feet tall. It is legal to grow it here.
