    Dear all,
I would appreciate help identifying this shrub with very petite, red/pinkish flowers are dark green gloss leaves. The photo was taken in mid December in a local park near Warrington. Given that not much flowers in December I though this would be easy to identify though my own efforts have drawn a blank......

You've got a puzzle there, HGD! Heptacodium flowers and Camellia leaves on a shrub with the habit of an Abelia! The hunt is on :)

Thinking about it, those aren't flowers, they're bracts, so could be an Abelia, but the leaves still don't fit.

Thank You Silver Surfer and Noisette47! I had no idea bracts could persist so long after flowering! Apparently the flowering period is from June to October. It is also known as Linnaea x grandiflora and is semi-evergreen. Thanks once again.
      Dogsbody ;-)
