As my potted up plug plants are growing, some develop early flowers. Surfinias, Petunias, Begonias as example. I have always tended to pinch back any flower heads to promote stronger growth. Does this help stronger growth, or am I wasting my time? I can't recall hearing of this anywhere.

I do the same, it forces the plants to put energy into growing bigger roots and leaves so eventually you end up with a stronger plant that will produce better flowers.
