It looks like a shrimp. I think there are several types of fresh water shrimps to be had.

Maybe birds can carry them or their eggs from one place to another ...

I think that some of the eggs are small enough to get blown around in the wind if a puddle dries out for example.

It looks like a shrimp indeed, perhaps a Gammarus?

It could have arrived with a pond plant and apparently is a beneficial creature and provides fresh food for your young fish.

How exiting to see the ecosystem building in your pond @Gizmo :)

Think it more likely to be a mayfly larvae than shrimp

They always say, if you build it they will come.
Its totally true with ponds, where and how the wildlife gets there is amazing, but it does.

Of course fish are probably likely to eat most of it.

We got the plants from waterside nursery...
With pond plants can they cause a rash if you touch them ? I was sorting out this plant at the time ..

Looks like gammarus. eggs of a lot of pond dwellers have sticky eggs, which are distributed by water fowl

gammarus eggs ? Was you referring to the shrimp like animal or the strange rash on my arm ...
I am a bit unsure of that yellow plant if I have had a reaction or its a rash from that plant

                  refers to the pond creature.
The plant looks as if it might be water buttercup (Ranunculus lingua grandiflora) and buttercups can cause a rash.

You must have a better surgery than I have, can't even get through to speak to the receptionist, let alone a Doctor.
