I thought I’d better start a thread for Izzy being unwell, so as not to take over the weather thread...

Can buy dog nappies from Amazon, she might not like them.

One of ours had bad back legs, the paws couldn't right themselves.

A quick update, now I’m back from the vets...

First of all, her urine sample was good for red and white blood cells, so the infection has stopped. Still not quite right on the acidity, but that can take a while to stabilise following an infection?

Her temperature is normal, which is also good. She is a little sensitive along the spine, but as she has skeletal issues as well, it’s hard to pinpoint if it’s bladder, or spine. The stand-in vet doesn’t do spine manipulation, so we continued looking at the symptoms. Izzy is spayed, and is now quite an old lady. So it could be the old sphincter control going. She may not have problems with laughing, or sneezing, but deep sleep may be a little too relaxed now.
So we are going to try her on Propalin to see if that helps.

Meanwhile, I have some incontinence pads, well, sheets really, being delivered to the pharmacist. (Cheaper than buying doggy ones, so I’m told). These will go under the dog-throws on the sofas, and I’ll probably fashion a pocket to go inside the duvet covers too, to try to protect the duvets, as well as the mattress. We’ll see how we get on!

Good to hear that her infection is under control and better. That's a good idea about the pads, all the best. :grphg:

We've only had males so haven't had that problem. :grphg:

I will start her on the Propalin this evening.

Pleased to report that I have managed to dry both duvets, and wash and dry the duvet cover, sheet, and mattress protector today, so doing well!:dbgrtmb:

Great that you've got everything dry.
She looks so peaceful sleeping there.
