Until yesterday the porch was still a mess of scattered pots and tools and rubbish after the move... time to make some order... so I designed a very basic (budget is low) but practical bench for standing smaller plants and storing potting compost and unsightly empty plastic pots.

    Before:

Painting the wood for the bench with waterproof paint:

    Building the boxes:

The boxes are apinted in "camouflage" to melt in the background. Central support for the bench...

Bench half assembled ready to go to the porch:

    Finished:

The planks for the boxes were cut at the store, all the rest I did myself, and the whole thing costed something less than 50 euros, including screws, nails and paint.

Plenty of space for hiding JB, unfortunately the top is rather transparent... may be we´ll need to wear a terracotta pot on the head for camouflage. :D

    Thanks all!
With next spare 50 euros I will make another for the shorter side of the porch, but higher, so it can be used as a table for potting on and such.

what an excellent idea, specially the boxes at both ends where all the pots etc can be stored away.

Very well, the time has come to give my bench a partner. My porch seems to be a state of perpetual confusion, due to gardening, fire wood storing, furniture building... you name it. This is why there is still a lot of mess in the pics. I will manage to sort it all out ... in time... I hope :-(
Anyway, I nedded space for my cuttings, seedlings garden tools, bottles and boxes, pots and accidents, and I needed a place where to do the small potting operations, I mean, I like to sit on the floor, but ...

SO here it begins: preparing pieces and painting wood (again):

    Storage unint half assembled...

    Spacing is a tricky job...

    ALmost ready to go upstair...

Assempled, minus last piece of the top, to be cut to measure last...

    Potting tray, detail...

Potting tray again... it is fixed so it can't topple over, but can still slide sidewards, and is topped with plastic for easy cleaning...

    All in order inside...

    Two more pics coming.... :-)

The finished top has a curve to let space for spades and rakes and forks... Oh, and please notice my baby brugmansias! :-)

At the end of all this I was let with plenty of wood, and I have some plastic from a previous project...

SO I am already busy with the next thing... stay tuned for news :D
