Hi everyone, I grew some calendula (Orange king) from seed last year they flowered and looked really nice, I'm a bit confused as I've read that are annual, I know they also self seed, so what have I got at the moment, one growing in the front garden and one in the back garden?

Looks like calendula to me - give a leaf a rub and see if it has that distinctive smell :)

They are great self-seeders, and lovely flowers - I am hoping that they will sort of come to my rescue this year, as I haven't sown anything yet.

Hi @mazambo , they're acually perenials. They're one of those plants that get classed as annnual so you spend more money every year. In the same class as Fuchsia, Lobelia, Wallflower, Petunia etc.

Hi @Fat Controller , if you want some easy quick no hassle colour try some of my old fashioned favourites..... Cornflower, Clarkia, Candytuft, Godetia and Larkspur.

All can just be scattered around now and will be starting to flower in around 6/7 weeks and continue all summer
