I'm having problems with the skin coming off my new Potatoes (Pentland Javelin) I gently simmer them, they taste ok, but I have a pan full of skins. I don't have a steamer......Any advice please.

That used to always happen to me when I grew earlies.
They went to mush mostly, and the outside just rolled off.

I always thought I'd be better growing a waxy variety.

Thanks for your advice Pete & Vince, I'll go with waxy ones next season. The remaining potatoes I will steam in the Microwave.

Try the variety Winston next year @john558 it is the best tasting early spud I have ever grown. It doesn't suffer with the skins coming off nor break up like the more floury types.
