Poundland have their plants and fruits back in so I bought a couple of raspberry canes called 'rubus idaeus' english name 'Malling Promise'. Just wondered if anyone else had bought these before and if they were any good or is it a case of getting what you pay for?

See if they displayed prominently who their supplier was I'd be interested as then I've got someone to shout at (who would understand why I'm shouting at them) if they bring something untoward into my garden :o

to be honest though you can get some serious bargains and as as long as you get in there quick while there all still alive you should be fine:thumbsup:

I tend to think they will be OK.
The big stores sell this kind of thing really cheap, presumably because they buy small plants. or large quantities.
But as they are stating "Malling Promise", they probably are.
Either way you will get some raspberries.

Bought my spuds from there last year. King Eddies and Maris Piper, were both superb, and a fifth of the price of the garden centre.

Just got a couple of roses too, will report back on their progress.

I bought raspberry canes from a reputable garden centre and they turned out to be rubbish, so you may as well trust Poundland.

The main problem it will be where they coming from? If the come from china or Spain they will just not perform ...
many time in the past I both some asian lilys from poundland , they did flowering in summer but never made trough the winter (find out they where coming from China), while all the one coming from Holland are still in my garden.
But why not try anyway along with some different quality from a different supplier and maybe next year tell us what uppen
