Do you think I went a little overboard?:heehee: this type of thing just makes me so angry! just because the next cheaper seller in the UK is asking £34 they think they can ask for £15 and yet still advertise it in the US at £3.50 because there are cheaper sellers!:gaagh:

Can you order on the US site for delivery here? I guess you've looked into that and the shipping is too much?

      Not yet *Watch this space*

well I'd have to pay international shipping (which somehow comes to £13) even though they would ship it from the UK to the UK:mute:

I should also mention that this is a second-hand book seller on Amazon.com/.co.uk (and numerous other sites) not Amazon themselves:thumbsup:

I don't shop on amazon (I do ebay)

are you 100% certain that the book will be shipped from within the UK?

many international sellers have addresses in other parts of the world, so as to be eligeabale to advertise in that country, but the product is shipped from the country where the seller resides?

Nope it's a UK seller and Amazon even says that it will take over 15 days because it will be dispatched from the UK:thumbsup: they have a number of accounts with other sites including Play.com

You can order from Amazon in the US. I often had to do this when I needed obscure volumes on eighteenth century literature!

Even more annoying = People who list books for 1p and then you check and the postage is £7+. Amazon should stop people doing this, imho.

I am in a different scenario to you guys because I am in 'Europe' but I do order from Amazon on a regular basis.

Sometimes it comes from the UK, sometimes from the US, sometimes from Austrailia, sometimes from the Far East .. but it is my goodself who chooses whom I order from .. but I look at their prices and their postage rates, some are quite different from others. It is YOUR choice as to whom you order from and what price you choose to pay.

To be honest, I have paid 1p for a Portuguese book I wanted .. but paid £4,99 postage to get it .. HELLO, I could not have got that book for a fiver here or anywhere else.

Widen your horizon and your minds ... is this something you want and what will you pay for it?

But I'm talking about the same seller Victoria why have two vastly different prices for the same book? he's dispatching it from the same place in the UK and I'd imagine it cost's him more to send it to the US then it would for him to send it within the UK

Yes, I see where you are coming from A .. I can't answer that ... and niether can anyone else except the seller I guess ...

A lot of people won't ship to me and some .. for a 1p book £25 ... cough, cough ... so I go through them all and in the main I am well satisfied with the folk I have to deal with who will ship to Portugal.

I only go through Amazon because there is a safety net.

Yeah I think I will probably order the updated version (with some errors in the text...) direct from Amazon... although I wanted the older version

A new gardening book I ordered today was £29.75 delivered from New York or £31.95 delivered from the UK on Amazon.co.uk. One seller in the UK wanted £38.79.

So I checked Amazon.com and bought it direct from them for £18.30 shipped from the U.S. Absolutely crazy that it's cheaper to get it shipped across the Atlantic than delivered by the postie.

Have you checked whether the same seller is offering the book on Ebay? You would presumably be pegged down to more reasonable UK postage rates, then.
